FAQ
How do I clean my Studio Pieter Stockmans Collection?
Studio Pieter Stockmans porcelain deserves care and attention – but fortunately it is also easy to maintain because it was fired at 1400°C. For daily maintenance, use a soft cloth, possibly slightly moistened with a mild detergent. For dusting, a dry, soft cloth is sufficient. Thanks to the densely sintered surface, even unglazed porcelain is 100% water-resistant.
Cleaning dirt and stains
Stubborn dirt disappears effortlessly with a few simple tips:
- Prevent limescale by dispensing dishwasher detergent correctly. For light limescale stains, vinegar water or lemon juice will help.
- Grey streaks on metal cutlery are easily removed with a mild scouring agent or a special porcelain cleaner.
- Tea or coffee stains disappear by soaking the item overnight in warm water with a dissolved tooth-cleaning tablet or some baking soda.
- Stubborn stains or black soot stains on windlights? A “miracle sponge” works great for quick and safe cleaning. They may also be placed in the dishwasher. When doing so, make sure you place them nicely side by side on a solid base.
Is handmade porcelain suitable for oven/microwave/dishwasher?
Studio Pieter Stockman’s porcelain is suitable for the dishwasher, including coloured designs – the shape and colour are retained. Please note:
- Gold decorations and hollow shapes (such as ‘BLOCK) should not go in the dishwasher.
- Place porcelain with space so that it does not touch.
- Avoid contact with metal objects: this prevents grey marks on the glaze.
- Preferably do not use tabs with citric acid or aggressive agents
Oven and microwave
Our pieces can go in the oven up to 280°C and are suitable for the microwave. If the porcelain has a decoration in gold, silver or platinum as well as hollow forms, they are neither oven-proof nor microwave-proof.
Take care with temperature changes: avoid thermal shock. Do not rinse cold porcelain with hot water and do not place hot pieces on a cold surface. The porcelain could crack.
How can I repair my handmade porcelain?
Over time, depending on use, the glaze can become matt. You can also obtain wipes from us to place between the plates then the glaze will remain intact for longer.
